BOB ROMANCHUK

Bob Romanchuk has been a key supporter of softball, curling and hockey in Prince Albert for many years allowing athletes to compete at a high level and achieve prominent titles along the way.

Romanchuk’s first love is fastball. He started sponsoring teams in 1984, the Senior B Aallcann Wood Suppliers and for the next 30 years had his name attached to many teams from Prince Albert. He was very proud of the players and coaches he sponsored and asked for very little in return, with this greatest joy coming anytime a PA team beat Saskatoon!

Romanchuk sponsored touring men’s and Sportsman League teams, but in 1996 helped launch the Aallcann Development Fastpich Organization (ADFO) which promoted developmental minor softball teams in the city through the Astros (boys) and Aces (girls) teams. This organization has produced many provincial champions and hosted numerous provincial and Canadian tournaments and is the envy of many softball associations across Canada.

In curling Romanchuk also supported the Bob Costain rink from PA that had success in Tankard play downs and on the cash spiel circuit in the Province. Romanchuk also was a key supporter of the Sherry Anderson rink which competed at Canadians four times and also rinks skipped by Stefanie and Marliese Miller who had success on the National and International stage.

Romanchuk also supported a very successful old-timers hockey club in the 1980’s; the Aallcann Rusty Cans. This team travelled to compete at the highest level they could at old-timers tournaments in Edmonton, Calgary, Lloydminster, Regina and Saskatoon with success. They also captured the 1986 Gamblers tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.
